Here it is! The other half of the Portuguese project I’ve been working with the past year.
KUTI#65 presents sixteen contemporary artists and comes with an article by Pedro Moura, 64 pages in all. Thanks to Pedro and Marcos (Farrajota) for editorial help, to Antero for the translations, Kutikuti for all the work and as well thanks to DGLAB, Instituto Iberoamericano de Finlandia and The Finnish Illustration Association for their support in getting this to project to the goal.
Featured artists: Amanda Baeza, Ana Biscaia, Sara Boiça, Pedro Burgos, Ema Gaspar, Hetamoé, Daniel Lima, Ana Maçã, Tiago Manuel, Rudolfo Mariano, Rui Moura, Ricardo Paião Oliveira, Rudolfo, André Ruivo, Alexandra Saldanha and Cátia Serrão.
You can grab the paper copy from your usual dealers or at The Helsinki Comics Festival that’s the upcoming weekend The festival includes as well Hetamoé and Rudolfo as festival guests – it’s a good idea to get some fresh Portuguese publications from their booth at the festival.

I’m prolly the last one to share this but anyway this is HAPPY news to us in Kutikuti: The Thick Book of Kuti got awarded with Prix Alternative 2021 by The Angoulême Comics Festival last Friday. Thanks to the jury – this is an honour.
Congratulations to the book editors Heikki and Tuomas, the whole crew behind the book, supporters & Zum Teufel, all the artists featured and as well the hundreds of artists that ever participated in Kuti magazine.
KK has some of the books still available so order your copy NOW. We’re atm working with 59th issue of Kuti which you can subscribe to in here. By ordering the book or Kuti magazine you’ll make sure we can do this stuff in future as well.

Å-Fest 2020 will be held 15th of February in Porvoo, Finland. This is a poster image I did for the festival. Besides that I’ll be present with an exhibition, a lecture and sales booth with a lot of stuff – Future#4 as well if it gets of the printing house in time. The lecture will focus on ‘exceptions in storytelling’. I’ll be showing tons of my own works and explaining in details how ‘the flow’ is built (and broken). Kutikuti will also be present with works in exhibitions & talk on the recent GIANT anthology (Jätti-Kuti / The Thick Book of Kuti). See you there!

Please get hold of ‘Jätti-Kuti’ (that’s ‘The Thick Book of Kuti’ in English) – This one is a blast of an anthology on contemporary comics worldwide. Featuring 480 pages in colour, big size (22 x 31 cm) with 174 authors inside, released by our collective Kutikuti. Comes with English subtitles. Edited by Heikki Rönkkö and Tuomas Tiainen it collects material from the +50 magazines long history of Kuti newspaper. Features lots of new stuff as well. In all it’s a book that you won’t be able to read at once. Only 500 pcs made so be fast to get your copy.
Though this might sound merely advertising I can honestly say this book is great and it will landmark an era.

The 6th edition of Formula Bula festival will be held in Paris 28.–30.9. I and Petra from Kutikuti will join the festival. We’ll bring some books, free Kutis, talk & sign stuff. Programme seems again interesting with guests such as Emil Ferris, Le dernier cri, Émile Bravo, Martes Bathori, Blutch and many more.
At the fest, Kutikuti’s touring exhibition ‘Tempora Mutantur’ will take place in Point Ephémère (200 Quai de Valmy) until 21st of October.
Later, I will also participate in a meeting at l’EESAB de Rennes on Tuesday, October 2 at 6pm. Yes, that’s in Rennes.
