The contemporary comics collective KUTIKUTI would need some help to keep on doing what it does. Costs have gone higher in every direction. To make things better KK has just launched an X-mas Fundraiser. It gathers together four packages of art an publications:
1) A package of fifteen different 16-page risograph fanzines 50 €
2) KUTI magazine subscription and ten random older magazines 30 €
3) The Thick Book of Kuti (480 pages) and a random A4 risograph poster 50 €
4) Two different random screen prints in 420 x 600 mm size 50 €

Here it is! The other half of the Portuguese project I’ve been working with the past year.
KUTI#65 presents sixteen contemporary artists and comes with an article by Pedro Moura, 64 pages in all. Thanks to Pedro and Marcos (Farrajota) for editorial help, to Antero for the translations, Kutikuti for all the work and as well thanks to DGLAB, Instituto Iberoamericano de Finlandia and The Finnish Illustration Association for their support in getting this to project to the goal.

You can grab the paper copy from your usual dealers or at The Helsinki Comics Festival that’s the upcoming weekend The festival includes as well Hetamoé and Rudolfo as festival guests – it’s a good idea to get some fresh Portuguese publications from their booth at the festival.

PASSIFLORA – KÄRSIMYSKUKKA is an exhibition of contemporary Portuguese comics that I’ve been working with for the past months. The exhibition will take place in Culture Centre Stoa in Helsinki, as part of The Helsinki Comics Festival that’s held the upcoming weekend. We will release the exhibition together with the new same-themed issue of KUTI magazine that is the other half of the project. More about that soonish.
Featured artistis in the exhibition: Amanda Baeza, Ana Biscaia, Ana Maçã, André Ruivo, Cátia Serrão, Daniel Lima, Hetamoé, Pedro Burgos, Rudolfo, Rui Moura, Sara Boiça, Rudolfo Mariano and Tiago Manuel.
The show will open this Friday (9.9.2022), with a free opening held 4.30–6.00 PM. Portuguese festival guests will be present and some food and drinks provided – welcome!
The wholesome is curated together with Marcos Farrajota and Pedro Moura. The exhibition is supported by Instituto Iberoamericano de Finlandia and The Finnish Illustration Association.

Some samples on the new Future#9 magazine. This 2nd last issue of the series presents ‘The Exhibition’ of the bohemian bunch that the reader has seen building something through the back issues. Features horrible nightmare, our magician making his final decision, evening in Centra and a very smiley future. The wholesome is getting to its end, or does it?

We’ll have a booth for KUTIKUTI at the French Angoulême Comics Festival 17.–21.3.2022. That’s a the alternative area in Nouveau Monde -tent. Selling piles of new wave of Finnish heavy weight art comics & giving out all the issues of Kuti newspaper we can carry, for free of course. I’ll be bringing mostly Futures (#1–8) and also selling the French edition of recent Cracking art book. I’ll sign that as well daily at the La 5e Couche booth.

Future serie is getting nearer to its end with #8 just out the printers. The storylines are getting wrapped, tied, looped & twisted. In this issue: a new life begins, the rich get poor, science fails to explain our world, the day in Centra falls into night, magic taking place and all that and yet a bit more.
I’ve reprinted #1 again so all the issues (#1–8) are available, directly from me as well (6€ each). My aim is to get the last two issues done this year so stay tuned. I’ll post an updated list of the distributors in a month.
